Modernization of silo aspiration

Our implementation of the "silo modernization" contract is divided into the following areas:

  • Aspiration of the upper conveyor routes in a silo with an output of 12,600 m3/h
  • Aspiration of the lower conveyor routes in a silo of 11,000 m3/h
  • Aspiration of the grain pre-cleaner and grain cleaner 6 000 m3/h


For the modernization of the silo aspiration, all existing aspiration (risers, fans, centrifugal separators, etc.) was dismantled in its entirety. Each circuit was equipped with its own G&G Jet BAG filter with integrated fan. All filters were installed on the 8th floor of the engine room.

 

Regeneration of the filter cloth is carried out automatically by a counter-current of pressurised air. Each filter is equipped with a control unit and a differential filter pressure loss sensor which gives an impulse for regeneration when the set pressure loss is reached. Waste discharge is by means of a rotary feeder and connected to the existing waste paths.

 

The implementation included extensive dismantling of the existing cyclone separators, which were placed on a steel structure on the outside of the silo. Climbers were used for the dismantling, assisted by a mobile crane. The climbers were also responsible for dismantling part of the roof of the building, which created an opening used to remove the dismantled parts of the technology and to lower the new filter units and fans into the machinery space. 

 

The G&G Jet BAG filter units used


The G&G Jet BAG filter units are textile filter units equipped with automatic regeneration of the filter media by means of a counter-current of pressurised air. From experience in individual applications, the lifetime of the filter media is more than 20,000 operating hours, without the need for any manual refinishing. The filter medium is a flat, smooth, non-woven fabric sleeve with a weight of 550 g/m2. The filter medium does not contain any folds in which dust can settle. It is also very mechanically resistant to tearing or puncture. The residual drift of dust particles ranges from 0,25 mg/m3 to 5 mg/m3 depending on the dust extracted. The filtration plant is equipped with either a 50 litre waste hopper or waste discharge via a rotary feeder into a BIG-BAG, or in a design according to specific demand. G&G Jet BAG filters are also available in versions for the extraction of explosive dusts.
